Love DIY jewelry? So do I. I featured a few holiday jewelry crafts before and I get great responses from them so I decided to do another one. This is a very simple tutorial but it has a great impact as a final piece.
Things you will need:
- Silver or gold shiny trimmings from the fabric or craft store
- Needle nose pliers or anything to pinch a curve in the wire
- Galvanized thin wire
Measure the wire around your finger. Does not have to be exact...make a loop at the end of the wire, mainly so that it does not poke you :)
Thread' the wire through the fabric trim as shown below. You can
barely see the metal wire between the trim...On thicker trims you will find that they have a clear stitch under the trim as seen below. This does not show on the other side, don't worry!
I used about 2.5 inches of the trim and about 5 inches of wire. Those extra inches of wire will wrap your frayed fabric ends and can also be your closures for the ring.
Measure the trim piece around your finger and decide how you would like the design or curves of the trim to look. Cut off the extra fabric if needed without cutting the wire. Wrap the extra wire as shown. Then make a loop as shown.
Make a loop at the other end and close with your needle nose pliers. The wire is really soft so i'm sure you can just use your fingers to close it.
So pretty!
Enjoy! Happy Jewelry Making all!
